Prevention is always better than a cure, especially when it comes to industrial printing equipment. While MakeID printers are designed for high reliability, the environment they operate in—often filled with dust or fluctuating temperatures—can contribute to feeding issues. Have you ever wondered how a few minutes of cleaning could save you hours of downtime?

The primary culprit behind many paper jams is the build-up of adhesive residue. As labels pass through the rollers, microscopic amounts of glue can transfer onto the sensors and the print head. Over time, this "stickiness" attracts dust, creating a surface that causes labels to peel off prematurely or get caught in the rollers. To prevent this, you should make it a habit to clean the internal components every time you replace a consumable cartridge. Use a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the print head, rollers, and media sensors.

Additionally, how you store your labels matters. Consumables should be kept in a cool, dry place to prevent the label edges from curling. Curled labels are much more likely to snag on internal guides. Always ensure that you are using genuine MakeID integrated cartridges, as they are specifically calibrated for your printer’s tension and heat settings. Avoid touching the label surface during the printing process, as oils from your skin can also interfere with the thermal transfer. By integrating these simple habits into your daily routine, you can enjoy a seamless, jam-free printing experience for years to come.  Click here to know more.
